RE: Shortcut route 19 in West Virginia

Much shorter and SMOOTHER route than I 77. As stated above, 50 mph in Summersville means 50! Not 51. Also the same in Fayetteville, Oak Hill and Mt Hope. Stop and visit Tamarack as well MM45 on I77--thats my back yard!

RE: 18V Drill and Scissor Jacks

Lowes has a two pack adapter kit to fit drills. One is for 1/4" drive sockets and the other is for 3/8 drive sockets. About $5. Located in tool world section of the store.

RE: Not accepting credit cards

Here locally--Beckley WV--Go Mart offers 5 cents off a gallon on diesel if you pay with cash OR debit card. No discounts off gasoline though. Go Mart is the only ones doing this here, and they've done that for at least 5, maybe 6 years now.

RE: Breakaway cable for electric brakes

When I towed TT, I would hook to the frame with an identical piece of cable as the factory supplied one. With the 5er, I hook to the rails that the head pins in to. Reason being from our salesman--"If the receiver fails, that cable is still attached to it, and it'll keep on going" Basically, he said hook it to something that won't break or fall off. Made sense to me, and have followed that advice ever since.

RE: Riding in Ashland West Virginia

You're going to the free state of McDowell! We plan on making the short drive there soon, just don't know when. If one were to venture out toward Welch, it would be worth a little extra time and go to Sterling Drive Inn for lunch.

RE: Outer Banks of North Carolina Campgrounds Where to stay.

Camp Hatteras has about 20 sites that front the dunes--walk 20 feet to sand and then to the beach. Furthest site from the beach on the oceanside is no more than a 5 minute walk. Soundside camping--well, you take your chances with the traffic! No water views on the ocean side due to high dunes. Soundside, you can see water as far as you can. We've stayed on both sides and had fun each time. We'll be there July 5th thru the 12th. Cant wait to head out! Site map

RE: Should I use a relay or a solenoid

I used an 80A, continuous-duty solenoid (White-Rodgers, model# 70-111225-5). I bought it from Grainger (Grainger's part# 6C029). Price was $27.25, and you can find it on their website or pick it up in their store. And, IIRC, from NAPA--ST 11 or the ST 80 are the two most common solenoids. I can't remember exactly which one is continuous duty.

RE: Outer Banks of North Carolina Campgrounds Where to stay.

Ocean Waves is nice, but sites can be a little tight at times to get in and out of, especially when its completely full--and I'm guessing they're booked up. Camp Hatteras is nice, roomy and has stuff on both sides (ocean and sound) for kids to do. We've been going there for the last 4 years. KOA is nice as well. We have been known to go and hang out at the KOA if we decide we want to change scenery. Nice folks there too.

RE: What Do I Stick In This Little Hole Right Here?

Holds the shower head hose? Keeps it from jumping out and touching you maybe?

RE: Saggage

One option would be to order the stock spring stack and add a couple of leaves. Maybe 7/8 to one inch of lift. Have done it on last 3 work trucks and it makes quite a difference in the sag and feel of the truck.

RE: Want another dog, what should we consider?

We travel with a BullMastiff and a Great Dane==they're jealous of each other. Don't bark at other dogs, people or birds. Both hate squirrels. They will bark for food. Been racing, beaches, and simple weekend getaways. No problems. Had zero problems with the Rottweiler as well--RIP Maxwell.

RE: West Virginia Turnpike

I64 East bound Sandstone Mtn is like a 6% grade for 4 miles or so. Next hill is past Green Sulphur exit and then the next one is Afton Mtn just outside of Charlottesville. Never had any problems on any of them in the 14 yrs we've traveled them.

RE: West Virginia Turnpike

From Richmond picking up I77 in Beckley headed north--first toll gate is around MM56 near Pax. Next is near MM 82 (approx) near Sharon/Cabin Creek. Single wheeled truck and 2 axle trailer is $1.50 at each booth. I believe a dually and trailer to be $2.00 IIRC. Should be no problems in May other than sporadic road repairs.

RE: Good park on Rt 19 between I-79 & I-77 in WV

Summerville Lake Retreat, Mountain Lake Resort or BattleRun campground all very nice and close to each other. If coming on down I77 Rockridge Resort and Pipestem State Park are picks there.

RE: I-77 tunnels through Virginia.

No restrictions for East River Mtn or Big Walker Mtn tunnels. However, there is construction going on inside the tunnels a couple of days each week and there is plenty of advanced warning. Goes down to one lane and speed limits decreased.

RE: Electric Slide Problem Help! Please

Check the circuit breakers that are "resettable" should be mounted near the batteries or near the pump for the slide. Usually black, mounted 2-3 in a row. The one blown should have a tab sticking out of the side to let you know it has tripped. Push the tab back in to reset.

RE: Bristol..............20 days and counting!!

We are packed up and ready to go. We'll be going down Thursday morning and come home Sunday night. As for safety--we've never had any problems with that. Most fans and rv'ers are very nice and friendly. But watch out for the scammers/scum that hang around doing the card and cup tricks--they'll clean you out if you let them.

RE: Egg smell mystery

When our propane gets very low, we get a smell somewhat like what you are describing. Don't know why. . . .

RE: My cousins home explosion from gas, just think what if?

Just shows the power of the gas. Somewhat off, but this explosion was caused by liquid propane getting under a bldg and converting to gas and igniting. Makes you have more respect for LPG. http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p42/bwtrump/DSC00012.jpg
